Netromedia streams Supreme Judicial Court

April 12, 2012 9

Live audio streaming of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court oral arguments will begin with the arguments scheduled on April 11, 2012. The oral argument schedule is available on the Judicial Branch web page at: http://www.courts.state.me.us/maine_courts…

The audio stream may be accessed at: http://www.courts.state.me.us/maine_courts/supreme/stream.shtml

That page will have an audio player for people who sign on with a PC or Mac, and will have links for people who want to listen on an iOS or Android device. The Court will use NetroMedia, the company that the Legislature uses to stream its video.

Mary Ann Lynch, Government and Media Counsel said, “This is a great step forward in making the work of the Supreme Judicial Court accessible to all Maine people, no matter where they live. All that is needed is a computer with Internet access, which is available in every public library in the state, as well as in many Maine homes. We are excited that technology has afforded us a way to bring the work of Maine’s appellate court to virtually all corners of the state. It is our hope that this will bring greater understanding of the work of the Judicial Branch of government.”
