How to: Live Stream PC Video Games and Desktop Presentations with NetroMedia

 

Purpose:

In this article, we will explain the methods that you can use to stream video games and other desktop applications with NetroMedia Streaming services. It will only contain the basics and you will need to refer to the software manufacturer to get more advanced details. The encoder software that we will be covering on this FAQ are: Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2, Open Broadcaster Software, Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 free version and Wirecast 5.0

 

Important: Before you proceed to start streaming video games, we encourage you the read the Legal Video Policy of the brand you are looking to stream your videos.

Here is a small list that we have gathered for you:

  

 

With Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2

By default, with Adobe Media Encoder you don’t have any included options to stream your desktop screen so you will need to install additional software to your Windows PC.  

 

Step 1. Proceed to download and install Flash Media Live Encoder: Download Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2

 

Step 2. Install the additional software that you will be using. Below are a few screenshots of how they should look like on the Adobe Flash Media encoder.

 

Option 1 – UScreenCapture (Windows Only) –Select “UScreenCapture” under Device Select Menu. You can make your changes for the encoder directly by clicking on the wrench located on the encoder. 

 

 

Option 2VHScreen Capture (Windows Only) –Select “VHScrCap” under Device Select Menu.

 

 

 

To make you changes, you will need to open the Configure VHScrCap.

 

 

 

Option 3 – Manycam (Windows and Mac OS) –Select “ManyCam Virtual Webcam” under Device Select Menu.

Note: When installing this application, you might get additional software that you might not want during the installation wizard.

 

 

To make the required changes, you will to Open ManyCam from the Star menu. Right click to get to the Desktop option.

With Open Broadcaster Software

With OBS, you don’t need to use any additional software as it already comes with a feature to be able to stream your desktop. Configuring OBS is really simple.

 

Step 1. Proceed to download and install Open Broadcaster from the following link: Download OBS

 

Step 2. Create your Scene or use the one already created for you.

 

Step 3. Add source Game Capture Source.

 

 

 

Step 4. In Game Capture properties, select the window for the game or application you wish to stream.

With Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 free version

This version of Expression encoder is limited to live broadcast your desktop. You will need to download additional software or purchase the Pro version from Microsoft.

 

Step 1. Proceed to download and install Microsoft Expression: Download Microsoft Expression 4

 

Step 2. Open Microsoft Expression Encoder4 and Select “Live Broadcasting Project”.

 

Step 3. Install the additional software that you will be using. Below are a few screenshots of how they should look like on Microsoft Expression Encoder 4. You might need to restart the encoder after the additional software installation.
