What internet connection do I need?

When determining your internet connection needs, you need to determine your necessary UPLOAD capacity.

First, determine the bitrate you want to broadcast at:

AM quality talk radio                20k      (approx. 120 listener hours / GB)

FM quality music radio 32k      (approx. 75 listener hours / GB)

CD quality music                      128k    (approx. 19 listener hours / GB)

Low quality video                     128k    (approx. 19 viewer hours / GB)

Standard quality video  300k    (approx. 8 viewer hours / GB)

Secondly, multiply your chosen bitrate by 2.5 to determine the upload speed you need.

Third, contact you Internet Service Provider to verify your speed and upgrade your service if necessary.

If you decide to use a Pull method (see Part 2.) you will also need a static IP address or an IP redirector like www.no-ip.com.
